At the summit are the highest located and active religious building in Poland - the historic chapel of St. Lawrence (patron saint of mountain guides) and the Tadeusz Holdys High-Mountain Meteorological Observatory, resembling a "UFO" in its shape. It is listed in the register of monuments. Also worth seeing is the new Czech post office building developed on the site of a demolished chalet. Since time immemorial, this distinctive summit of the Karkonosze Mountains has amazed visitors with its shape and ever-changing weather. Śnieżka sits in a maritime climate. It has also taken over its characteristics. Therefore, high-velocity winds rage in the area, and there are sudden changes in pressure and atmospheric phenomena such as precipitation from fog, rime, and St. Elmo's Fires.
